Where I live (Portugal), adding sugar to wine during fermentation is not only seen as bad practice, but also treated as a crime. How is it, where you live?

Hi Luis, I asked a friend of mine who used to work for a wine producer in New Zealand. He says:

"In NZ (as in most of the New World) it is legal to add sugar, or at the the other extreme, to add acid. It is not something generally done by the top end producers, but it would be quite commonplace for box wines or low-end wines. Frowned on, yes. Illegal, no."
