Camera Labs

I've touched the lens with the tip of my finger, so now it has a grease stain. Trying to remove it with a cloth used for sunglasses didn't solve the problem.

What should I do?

Give it a dip in the bath.



I am kidding of course, I say get your cloth and barely douse it with water and rub the glass in like a circular motion, always works for me.

I normally breathe on my lens then clean it with a lens cloth. That gets most muck off.

I usualy use these lint free lens wipes. Got a cleaning kit that came with them and a little bottle of cleaning fluid. But breath works as well

Nikon suggest using ethanol (alcohol) and then rub in a circular motion, as Nathan suggested. That makes sense since alcohol would cut the oils from your skin, and the circular motion would move things to the outer edge of the lens.

That's good to know that it worked. I'm sure I'll need to do the same someday.
