For the good folks here, Gordon and Co., do you ever feel overwhelmed at the amount of people looking for advice on buying a new camera or comparing cameras, ie, 40D vs. Rebel etc.? It'd be fun to tally up how many folks here, myself included, use this site to help them make a thoughtful buying decision.

I know with music, when new people to the genrea ( or sub genres in this case ) ask me about bands, I feel like a little kid again talking about who's the best at what, who sounds the darkest or most symphonic, and which band can play 1,100 beats per minute, etc. again. Movie talk as well. Again, the enthusiastic kid comes out.

Well, there's a pretty constant flow of people looking for advice, but that's what we're here for! I think I speak for everyone though when I say I really appreciate the time that everyone on the forum puts into helping new members.

I think we've got a friendly, helpful and interesting forum here, and it's great to see the way it's growing. I certainly don't want to get to a point where the owner of one camera isn't welcomed in one of the other sections, as is worryingly common on the bigger forums.

Many of the questions people ask have been asked and answered before though - or covered in our reviews - so it's always worth browsing first!

Gordon

Hear hear, its not a very wide wander round the web to find out that not very many sites give much free bandwidth to the non Nikon/Canon alternatives in the dslr market, for whatever resons that Gordon put this site up, he has expanded a few peoples horizons, and that in itself is a good thing.

The next time the question "which model should I buy..." comes up, I try to find a perfect thread that had already been discussing this. But that's a tough task. Everybody has some different background and goals, so it's hard to rely on older threads.
but at least Gordon's feature "Should you buy a DSLR or a Compact?" took much out of this basic discussion.
So next-up we need a feature "Should I buy a Canon or a Nikon?"

Gordon? GOOOOOORDON!
That should be easy, shouldn't it?

Hehehe
If you insist, I'll do it. But the outcome is pretty clear: Go for Nikon.
So Bob would write an article with the result: Go for Canon.
And if anybody asks us ever again, we'll say:"Haven't you read the articles of Tom and Bob? That's all that can be said..."
   :) :D  :P
