Well, I only really set up a flickr account to start with as a way to put pictures of that I had taken with my cousins camera, but now that I have my own, I find my self uploading a fair few photos, and can see myself uploading a damn sight more in the near future.

What I want to ask is - Is anyone here considering (if they do not already have so) buying a Flickr Pro account? Anyone that has, do you believe it to be worth it?

I can design and code my own site, not a problem, but Flickr does have the Social Networking side of it pretty well done, and its a widely known site.

Anyway I am going to buy one soon, once my money comes into my paypal... :D

I now have almost 3500 pics on flickr, an estimated amount of 7GB. Well, web-hosting that large and with potential traffic quite high I would not get a service below 20$ per year in Germany.
So for me it's the only way to host such a massive amount of pics plus all the fringe-benefits.

I highly recommend flikr pro. No upload restrictions and near unlimited photo storage as Tom pointed out. It is also easier to organize pictures into unlimited sets and collections.

It such a convienance for the small ammount of money if you ask me. Real nice, I can just edit the photos, no need to resize, drag into "Flikr Uploadr" program, create my set. I also am a Web Developer, but I still chose Flikr Pro.

Seems like a good deal to me :)

Indeed, well so far its pretty much for pro then :P

I would love to develop my own and I probably will for a portfolio but for uploading most of my photos i'll get the Pro!

The portfolio will be used for the real "Best of the Best" photos, I mean I'm not going to upload photos where its really overexposed or underexposed where it shouldn't be, or photos which are just rubish to flickr, but I will be a bit more soft as to what goes on flickr in comparison to my actual portfolio.

Anyway, any more flickr users here? (btw is there a sticky with everyones flickr page yet?)

Many put their flickr-adress on their sig, others put in under their "website" which you can find via the member's profile.

lol I know the feeling, everytime you start to feel happy about it, you leave it for a day or two (or even just a few hours) come back and go...that isn't all that good is it *scumples .psd file and throws in the recycle bin* then start all over again!

I think I just to make one that is OK and stick with it

Yah I know that Thomas what I ment was like a massive sticky where everyone can post their flickr page.

Yay! Just bought the Flickr Pro Account!

Now I can get my full size photos and get unlimited sets and collections!

Plus i get the snazzy bit that says "pro" on my page and name hehe :)

I had to use a friends debit card though since It doesn't accept paypal - pretty poor that is, considering it is a web 2.0 site and its not that hard to integrate.
