It's called the Idou. 12.1mp in a phone...

Here's a little preview: *link*.

Well I remember when I bought my Nokia N95 8GB phone about 1 year ago - its 5MP camera is crap in comparison to almost all DSLRs, but I have my cell phone everywhere - and my camera notttt :D
So for emergency shooting, when I don't expect anything worth capturing to happen my Nokia is great :)

Wow... Just went on their website to have a look. They're not even advertising it as a phone!

It is a phone, right?

Pretty cool, though. I have a sony-ericsson now that's been pretty good to me. Still... I'm not sure the "Idou" could trump my lust for the one and only "iphone."

It is, yeah. It's a combination of a SE Walkman-phone and a Cyber Shot-phone. And it does show quite some similarities to the iPhone.
Knowing the Blackberry Storm's had quite some issues, this Idou might be a better option for me to buy (I'd like a new phone...)

Some of my best pictures were shot with my cell phone (Nokia 6110 Navigator, 2 MP).

The trick is learning how and when to use it. I found that, whilst noise is an issue, my camera has a great dynamic range, giving me beautiful sunset photos, with some after editing done :)

But... your alternative is a Medion camera... :)

Not insulting you BTW, just presenting some facts.

Looks like a cool phone, although 12 MP on that sized sensor, seems like a bit of a waste to me! I personally think that phones nowadays should have no more than 5 MP or so, because of the fact the sensor is just ridiculously small!

No offence taken, that medion camera sucks ^^
But in my defense, I've also shot with a D80 for a day (for my schools paper), and an a200 for fun (see DeviantArt) ;)

I used the A200 and my cell phone for photographing a sunset and must admit some shots look roughly the same on my phone ;)

You must have a good phone then! :)
I currently don't have a camera on my phone (SE M600i), and because I miss it sometimes, and because the Idou above seems like a great device, I might buy it. Might, that is, because I'd much rather get a new lens or two.

No, I don't. Just know when it's appropriate to use your phone or not ;)
