Thanks guys! Looking for an interesting job now, but I do still want to do a PhD in a couple of years. Just need a little break from academic research... ;)

Congratulations Bjorn, that's amazing! :)

Staying on topic, I just bought a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8. I'm still waiting for it to ship, I'm quite excited TBH :D

I clicked on the Amazon link on Cameralabs' front page, and ordered Kindle editions of Gregory Heisler's new book, _50 Portraits_, and _Essentials of Street Photography_ by James Maher, plus books in the history and pistol shooting categories, by Apsley Cherry-Garrard and Massad Ayoob, respectively. (Carrying a pistol is a matter of duty for me; no political statement intended.)

I love books that I can physically handle, but space is very much at a premium now, so the Kindle app for my iPad is a blessing.

I also bought Gordon some virtual coffee. :)

Also clicked the Support Me-button on Camera Labs' homepage for a little new year's shopping spree:

Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image

All images are clickable.
Steve McCurry's "The Iconic Photographs"
Eve Arnold's "All About Eve" (which had been on my wish list for several years)
Edouard Boubat's "It's a Wonderful Life"
André S. Solidor's "The Art of André S. Solidor" (this is a pseudonym of my favorite photographer Elliott Erwitt, through which he critiques art photography)
Elliott Erwitt's "The Private Experience" (used copy)
Ravensburger puzzle with an Elliott Erwitt picture (I really don't like assembling puzzles, but it will make for some cool wall decoration)
Alfred Hitchcock 14 DVD boxset
The Rat Pack 3 DVD boxset

All in all, a lot of stuff to entertain the eye this year!

- Bjorn

Finally, I have a full-frame zoom lens for my Sony A7R: Sony FE 24-70mm F4 ZA OSS Zeiss lens.

(It's still in the box. There's no rush to open it.)

Keep us posted on how you like the f/4 aperture Antony. In all other respects I am sure it will be a fantastic lens.

I myself ordered a collector's edition copy of Elliott Erwitt's "Personal Best". The store claims to have it in stock, but since there are only 300 copies, and it was published in 2007, I am somewhat doubtful. Credit card won't be charged until it ships though, so there's no risks (store is reputable too).

A couple of days after ordering the collector's edition I received this signed paperback from The Macallan whisky. Excuse the low quality image, I'm not great with selfies.

Manfrotto 055CXPRO4 with 498RC2 ballhead. One of my photographic resolutions is to do more tripod photography this year so let's start with a great tripod :D

Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 75mm 1:1.8 in black. Boy does it look and feel good in front of the E-M1. Tack sharp optically as well. 8)

Thanks Bjorn.

Finally, I had a chance to take the lens for 4-day short holiday. Apart from keeping pressing the wrong buttons (still haven't got used to A7R's layout) there's my first complaint: the FE 24-70mm F4 makes Sony A7R pretty heavy… like a regular DSLR. Personally, I would much prefer NEX-7 + 18-55/3.5-5.6 (kit lens)'s weight.

Is that your room with all your pictures on the wall? Looks like you only have one frame space left.

Antony.

Edit: I realized I posted a reply incorrectly in this thread, and just copied it, then pasted it in the proper place.

Having taken care of that, I will mention that I obtained a pre-owned Stitz left hand grip/flash bracket, quite cheaply. This makes it easier to handle a small-bodied camera with a large flashgun, such as the Nikon A with an SB-910 Speedlight. The same will be true if I finally buy a Nikon Df, a camera which is "growing on me" a bit more each time I handle one at a local camera store.
