Having just jumped up to Win7 i have to say i allready miss my folder icon from winXP.

I loved the fact that the flat folder icon was able to be customised with a picture from inside the folder, much like an old record sleeve and this made my photo albums and music albums, video albums etc much more easy to navigate and the layout was excellent.

Win7 uses the vertical open folder icon which i think is pants and whilst you can customise this folder icon you cant use the old xp icon.

As such i have been looking for something to use as a new default folder icon.

Does anyone else have the same gripe as myself and how or what have you used as a replacement ?

suggestions ideas etc..most welcomed.

Got some of the gear but really still no idea...

Well judging by the huge response i got ..i guess its just me !

anyway..after a bit of searching i found i was not alone. i also found a base template to create my own icons.

I thought i would share to see what your thoughts are.

the 2 screenshots are of my photo library folders. One at extra large icon and the other at large icon.

The base icon used for the folders is the base grey one in the shot. A little time needed in photoshop for each one but not hard.

I have also added music folders and video / dvd covers with actual film clip stills and band photos etc.
