Hi everyone,
I have a quick question about SSD. I am about to purchase my dream laptop, a 17 inch macbook pro with 2.4ghz quad core i7, 4gb ram (will upgrade to 16gb myself), 1gb graphics card and the standard 750gb hard drive. I was originally going to purchase the apple ssd but whist researching the hard drive I discovered they are significantly slower than other options and are very over priced.
This leads on to my question. At the moment I am looking at getting the OCZ Vertex 3 240gb. Is this the best option or does anyone know of a better ssd? Also I fully understand the upgrade process in terms of the physical upgrade. However once the ssd is installed and the os installed to the drive will all of the programs that come pre-installed with a mac such as iMovie be installed.
Another thing I will be using a external hard drive to store all of my photos and videos as the ssd will not be large enough. Has anyone had any experience with G-raid mini 1.5tb. It has two 750gb hard drives that can be set up in either raid 0 or 1 (I think I will use 1). Is the raid good? Is there anything better for the price?
Any help would be great,
James
