Just saw the Ivy Bridge Overview on Anandtech. My main thought is how 7 obsessed are Intel marketing? Many models have a 7 in the model number up to the i7-3770, but I think declaring a 77W TDP is going a bit far even if that is really what it is.

Canon DSLRs: 7D2, 7D1, 5D2, 1D, 600D, 450D full spectrum, 300D IR mod
Lenses: EF 35/2, 85/1.8, 135/2+SF, 70-300L, 100-400L, 100L, MP-E 65, EF-S 10-18, 15-85
3rd party: Zeiss 2/50 makro, Samyang 8mm fisheye, Sigma 50/1.4A, 150 macro, 120-300 f/2.8 OS
Compacts: Sony HX9V, Fuji X100.

I don't see the problem :S
Oops, let me just take my head out of my ass, I see what you mean. Even though I don't see that this making the models with a 7 in them more popular, because people tend to fix themselves on Ghz/Mhz. And the low voltage ones which are used in laptops are usually displayed with just a iX prefix.

There are very few (two per voltage class) i7 because Intel want to milk Hyper Threading as much as possible. And the silicone is the same over the whole board, only laser cut the ones that didn't comply for the higher frequencies.

The TDP looks reasonable given the 22nm production, newer architecture with "perpendicular transistor gates". (I refuse to say/write 3D transistors!)

Canon 5D MkII -|- Sigma 24mm f/1.8 | Carl Zeiss 35mm f/2.0 | Canon 50mm f/1.4 | Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro | Lensbaby Composer
Canon A-1 -|- Canon 28mm f/2 | Canon 35mm f/2.8 | Canon 50mm f/3.5 Macro
