Yes. The infamous Antivirus XP is back. And I have become its target. Apparently its become smarter this time.

The last time it hit me was over a year ago. All I did was my little 3 step retaliation:

1. AVG scan
2. Spybot - seach and destroy
3. smitfraudfix

This solved all my problems.

Now that its back I did my same 3 step attack except I am now using Avast instead of AVG. And well it didnt work.

Anyone else have methods for destroying this stupid spyware? This thing is really annoying.

This might be crying over spilt milk, but what AV were you running at the time and why didn't it prevent this trojan from installing itself?

FWIW, you might try installing Microsoft Security Essentials as I'm currently using it and have been rather happy with it.

Jaemok, my friend had this virus too. We searched for removal instructions and found this blog post. You should give a try.

@pgtips Ive been running AVG for quite a while now. But no more. I've heard good things about the new version of Avast so I switched.
