well i've decided to crank up my hobby, and decided to create a website and porfolio.....but i have no idea where to start...

i'm looking for a FREE website to start, and some advice on how to start a portfolio...and finally, where can i get a free watermark program/website for my photos?

I use redbubble but if your over 18 I would suggest Photobox pro gallery, i've heard good things about it. On my redbubble on its simple design without much control over the design but it looks ok, just not my own domain name but that costs :(, also puts watermarks on the larger clickable sizes of the picture. See my portfolio to see if it's what you want.
hth,
Joe

I know you said free, but here's my number one tip:

If you are trying to sell yourself, buy a domain name. It costs about $10 a year. To put that in perspective, you only have to skip 3 coffees across the whole year to pay for it. It looks so much more professional. What looks better?

michaeltakesphotos.blogspot/deviantart/facebook/whatever.com

or

michaeltakesphotos.com (note, I made these up)

?

Even if you don't want to shell out (ether in time or money) for your own custom website, you can use your domain as a redirect to a portfolio place like HJM suggested. You still get to put your domain name as the URL on your business card though, which screams professional.

What should a graphic design portfolio look like and contain? I need to send off my portfolio to get in to gr4aphic design courses in college, but I am completely stumped on what I should put in and what I should leave out... also, what should it look like?

@jhm I'm just curious, I saw on your portfolio that you can order your picture in different varieties. May I ask if you get any of that money or does that go to the advertizer?
