I really want to start getting some photography experience, but I have no idea how to go about getting an assistent position. I have researched some local photographers and they all have emails and telephone numbers, but I am not sure what exactly I should be asking them. It seems a little far fetched that I could just simply call and get a position. Does anyone have any advice?

Call and ask, 'i was wondering if you required an assistant as I'm looking for experience and work'. Simple as that. They might as you to bring a portfolio with some of your photos.
