Have just started out, am currently selling my work at a small local craft shop and hopefully soon also in a small gallery outside London.

1. At the moment I sign my mounts in pencil. Things I have seen and am considering are:

a) numbering my prints - have only seem this done once and as a run of 100 - which I honestly think is a bit optimistic, but do customers like this as a rule?

b) signing the actual print - have seen this done with a little copyright sign too. I like to sign in pencil on the mount so customers can remove it if they want, but what if they want to re-mount a print in future and keep the signature?

2. Also, the gallery owner has a rule about how my prices must be the same everywhere so she is not seen to be 'over-charging'. But my local craft shop is in Argyll and charges 10% commission. The gallery is just outside London and charges 40% commission. Is this an unreasonable request or standard?
