Here are some of the results. Overall I'm pleased but I didn't take my own advice and bring a table cloth for the background. Amazingly, none of the table cloths at the restaurant had been ironed and the flash did a great job in highlighting all the nasty creases... Grrr!

I had the flash set remotely for all these shots and found that setting it up about a metre and a half away seemed to work quite well. The shots aren't very creative but that's what the restaurant wanted. They were very specific.... straight on and at 45 degrees.

Wow, those look great! I'm getting hungry! What a great experience you're describing with this resteraunt. They are very artistic in their presentation and you've nailed it.

From my very limited knowledge, the only way I could see to improve this is by bringing out a little more detail -- brightining things. I doubt that more flash is necessary, just a little pp. In this regard, what about a darker tablecloth, so the tablecloth wouldn't overexose?

Thanks again for sharing TelexStar, it's great to be in on the problems and see the adjustments you make as you go. :D

Thanks for the comments! :)

I'll try some of those ideas on my next attempt. I might go and buy some black and white material to use for the future.
