Is arrived!!

Well I'm still studing the camera and the user manual, but I can already give you some impressions...

The camera is just what I was looking for:
a compact camera with the controls on the immage that a reflex has...
...and I can assure you hat the level of control o this camera is really high!!
The 3" screen is really usefull to made the composition that we want...the optical wiewfinder instead is not so usefull:no info and a not so good quality of immage...also the mark inside of it is not so clear...so...is good just to take some pictures when the battery is down level and the screen is turned off...nothing more...

The autofocus is not so good as I was expecting...I used it with the center spot but some times it never do what I want...I don't know If the problem is that I don't know how the autofocus works and so in future it will go better, but for now a lot of times the autofocus made focus on the wrong spot or never made focus at all...

Well...what can I say...a grate camera, but if I take a look to his autofocus I can understand why Gordon didn't gives "Highly Recomanded" to this camera...

I know this is a camera that's long since discontinued, but for me it is coming back
into utility, due to Aperture 3.0.

I got a G9 when they first came out, late 2007, as I was going on a work-related
trip to the Canadian Rockies. Space limitations made the best excuse to upgrade
my P&S from a 2000 model. Got some OK shots on that trip and subsequently, but
the G9's noisiness above or even at ISO 400, never made for great shots. Have used
a flash in the hotshoe and even an STE2 many times.





Lately I have bought an S90 and that is the best pocketable camera I've ever had.
You can argue that the Panasonic LX3 is better, maybe, but slightly larger and for
me. Didn't go for a G11, as it seemed too similar to the G9, but with less features.

I still have my G9, here's why:

- time-lapse movies: missing from the S90 and everything else recent from
Canon. Why? I use it to demonstrate construction of things.

- Higher resolution movies: The G9 has higher res movies than its successors.
Why?

- Audio recordings: Missing at least from the G11. Why?

- Audio notes attached to images. Missing at least from the G11. Why?

All these things really make sense now that Aperture 3.0 will import them,
keeping audio attachments attached as metadata. The G9 is now the best
AV data collector, albeit not the best image maker. It's always lived in my
briefcase, but now it's worth using more of its features.
