This afternoon, i was lucky enough to get to play with a Nikon D700 for 20 Mins or so. So i just thought i'd give you a run down in comparison to my 40D.
Ergonomics
As soon as i picked the D700 up, i instantly noticed how much heavier it was than my 40D, also how out of balance it was with it's 18-35mm lens on. I persaonlly thought the Grip was really awkward and horrible, and really hated the indent, i just couldn't seem to get the right grip, which was comfortable.
I instantly love the top LCD, as in comparison it is much bigger and nicer to look at, than on my 40D. Then i looked through the viewfinder

, it's enourmous, also really nice to look through, although because it was so big, the shooting info almost got lost in the bigness of the viewfinder. The screen is just brilliant, and it's so easy to see if something is sharp or not. There were also so really cool gadgets on the camera like the 'Virtual Horizon', and the AF in LV was pretty cool.
In my opinion there were FAR TO MANY AF POINTS, i got confused by looking through the viewfinder, as it was obstructed by all the these things, and my eye was drawn to the AF points not to the subject.
I found the speed, slow in comparison to my 40D, when changing settings, although i am sure i would get quicker with practice.
So i am still a firm believer that the 40D/50D has the best ergonomics, of any DSLR around, and yet to be proved otherwise.
BTW, unfortunately i didn't have time to grab any test shots, or anything else.
