My budget is around $250...but I could go to $350 if there is absolutely something better that that price range.

Which would you buy? Or could you suggest another that I can buy on amazon.

It will be my first ever real camera. Right now I have a $70-80 dollar Sony Powershot that I have grown out of.

My major concern with the Nikon is that they will release an updated version in January (they tend to release upgrades in Jan.).

Other than that, feel free to suggest others please..

P.S. I should say that I want one that is good, but not great for video as well. I notice a lot of these you can hear the stupid motor going when you zoom in, so not sure if that is a big problem.
