Anyone here own a Leica M9 or the new M? Im thinking of getting one with a 50mm sumilcron 1.4 - its gonna cost me 12k but Im serious about it.

took me 3 months but I got 1k in the bank, and Im on my way - but anyone here got Leica experience, and what are the suggestions, advice youd be happy to bestow upon me?

At your current rate of savings, it will take you 3 years to get the cash together. I would say you can't afford a Leica M.

Have you ever used one? I have used an older film version and yes, they are special, but it sounds like you're looking for people to justify the cost to you.

You haven't mentioned why you want one or what type of photography you enjoy, but even without this information, I think you've given enough info to recommend against this purchase.

Treat yourself to some nice lenses instead.

I think the feeling's important, then you should look at those Fujis! Just Leica, but then from the Fuji factory :lol:

Good for you Leo. At least you've made your decision. I keep wondering....

I really like the thought of such a finely engineered piece of kit. I bought the D600 to get FF without the bulk and weight of earlier/more expensive models but still....

I must say though, that I haven't been able to find anything about the longevity of Leica digital M cameras. That of the film Ms is legendary. Anyway, if it's your dream, why not go for it?
