I am in the market for a new camera, and I'd like one that has a GPS built in.

I'm really considering the Cannon 230 but have also read about the 260. I have not been able to find all of the differences between them. From what I have read at various places and subtle comments people have made, the on/off button is in a different place (making the waterproof case for the 230 not work with the 260) also the display screen on the 230 is 16x9 and the display screen on the 260 is 3x4, and then also the 260 has a little bit more optical zoom than the 230.

But this raises the questions,
1) Can the 230 take still photos in 16x9 as well as 2x3?
2) Can the 260 do the same?
3) Does the GPS function work on movies, or only on stills?
4) How is the GPS information encoded? How can you use it?
5) What does the HS in the name mean?
6) I've heard the 230 got pretty bad battery life, does the 260 fix that?
7) On the 230, the flash popped up when you did not want it to, does the 260 fix that?

My budget is about $300US. I'm looking for recommendations and thoughts. I'm not stuck on this brand or model.
