I have a Panasonic Lumix point and shoot camera. I have always used my Sony Handycam Camcorder for video. The camcorder is damaged and will be about $250 to repair. It's about five years old. So I'm looking for a new camera that can also provide good video. I think I'm down to the Canon SX40, Panasonic FZ150 and the Sony XV100V based on reviews here and I've looked at two in the store. They all seem pretty good for what I'm looking for. Does anyone have a recommendation? Also I have a question about the memory and battery life in particular to video. My Sony Handycam will film for abouy 120 Minutes on one battery. I'm sure I won't get that with the camera. How long will I be able to film on the battery? Also, how much memory is used? For instance, we are going on vacation this summer and I will be taking pictures and filming continuously. Any info is appreciated!
