New member here with a question hopefully in the right section.

I'm looking for a step up and currently use a Samsyng st60. Its a nifty little thing, but the HD video is not as sharp as id like it when viewed at a large screen size - camera does 720p. I'd also like a camera with good sound quality and with some more features. My main use would be video filming (interviews with people and events etc), so even though im not action filming, i'm looking for a good auto/manual focus, full hd 1080p video, but I'd also want it to take good shots as well as it would be our personal camera, not just for my project. As this is more of a Proust hobby, I'd like to keep spend down if possible and spend no more than £300, however based on my requests and if that price mark isn't possible, I also have favourite expensives too. I've narrowed it down to the following choices:

Nikon coolpix p500
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150 
Sony Cyber-shot HX100V
Canon PowerShot SX40
Panasonic Lumix Fz48

What I'd like to know apart from the features ive mentioned above is would all of these work with and download the video files toiMovie? I use it at the moment and as I'm not a super professional, it works fine for me, so I'd like to keep using it. My worry is that some of these models refer to AVCHD and that's where I become unsure of their compatability with iMovie.

Hope you can help me out as buying one later today.

So in response to my earlier post, i didnt buy any of the cameras as im still unsure of compatability with imovie.

Can you help?

Im now more swayed to the Panasonic fz150
