My girl was very dissapointed by her set of pictures from a trip last week. took some christmas light pictures, nightime photos of an old school, and inside a casino.

Noisy, dull, washed out on the christmas light pics, and blurry inside low light. This was with her cell phone camera.........

I want to get her a camera for Christmas.

She doesn't like my DSLR (a100) because finding the card, battery, switching the lens, and bringing a charger (my battery is old and lasts 50 shots) is too much for her to do.

BUT i have lost faith in all compact cameras, the low light performance is usually atrocious. without using the flash every pic will be noisy and or blurry. and with the flash colors are washed out and lines are harsh.

I have thought about the NEX-3 with a 16mm pancake for her. But most of her pictures are bound for the wall of facebook and i worry that the NEX is overkill.

Are there cameras in the 1-2 hundred dollar range that i will be happy with?

Also any features that make uploading easyer, such as automatically uploadign her photos via wifi when she gets home will help make sure she accually uses it.

I am working thru the list of recomended cameras just looking for opinions, its hard to test low light performance in a best buy...

Thanks!

Get her a good point and shoot, they are all very good nowadays.

It might be at or even over the top of your intended price range but i have the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX5 on my "watch-list" for a pretty good point&shoot. See Gordon's review here.
