Post subject: lumix g3 vs sony nex5
PostPosted: Thu Nov 17, 2011 12:56 pm
hi all - im looking to buy a smaller camera suitable for sports and fast action photos plus family shots and landscapes, so a versatile one is required. lm impressed by both the lumix g3 and sony nex5, any ideas on which would suit me best, if at all?
im used to a super zoom and prev had an EP1, but found it a bit bulky for my everyday needs, plus its fps rate was a little slow at 3fps.
any feedback gratefully recieved.
thx, scott :D

Not really following your line of reasoning--the E-P1 was too bulky and too slow for you, but the G3 is larger than the E-P1 and, at 4fps, only marginally faster.

So that would seem to favor the NEX-5. But this begs the question--how good are you at shooting sports and fast action without a viewfinder? i.e. with only an LCD to compose/frame. And if you are OK shooting sports/action with an LCD, is the (somewhat limited at the moment) lens selection for the NEX line versatile enough to cover all your needs? ("sports and fast action photos plus family shots and landscapes") And if so, is the combination of body and lens compact enough for you? (Generally, a larger sensor/image circle requires larger lenses to cover it.)
