hi guys,

im really stuck what camera to buy for my long holiday travels this summer.

Ive looked at both camera's, but the TZ20 has pretty much has every gimmicky feature i want but apparently has worse picture quality than its TZ10 predecessor, and is not as good as the Cannon.

All my experienced photographer friends recommend the G12 or even S95, but i am attracted to the TZ20's video quality, as i intend the camera to be used for both picture/video use in equal amounts.

Any advice appreciated.

also, this was my initial "wish list" while trying to find the ideal camera. As i wont have computer access for much of my 6 month journey, a lot of in-camera/post-processing features are listed:

CMOS sensor (anything over 1/1.7" or 7x5mm)
Wide Aperture (F-Stop 2 or less)
720p @ 30FPS
Wide Lens (24mm or less)
Optical zoom x10+
7FPS Continuous Shooting
Built-in Flash
Image Stabilization

High Speed movies (210 FPS+)
Built in HDR
Long Exposures (60 secs+)
Time Lapse/Canon's Miniature Effect
24FPS cinema shooting
RAW format
GPS Tagging
Panorama Stitch

I am biased towards the G-series. My first digital camera was a G3 (and it cost me almost twice what I paid from my 2-lens kit 3-620) and it served me incredibly well for more than 6 years. In the end, however, remember, that both your candidate cameras have smaller sensors than a DSLR -- so video and image quality might be a bit of a misnomer, if you think about it.

i am going for portability over image quality.

im just talking about relative image quality between the above camera's themselves, rather than in comparison with all other camera's.

thanks :)

I still say that relatively speaking, IQ should be pretty much a wash between the two cameras.
