I know its a very common question people ask.

I am a beginner, no experience with any of the SLRs. But recently I started studying a lot on photography and learning things. I am planning to buy a SLR on Thanksgiving. Initially I was thinking of buying Canon T1i. Later on when I started looking into Nikon cameras, I found many contrasting reviews. Some supporting Nikon, others supporting Canon (all of them sounding technically correct). So, I guess both of them have fews drawbacks over other.

I am not sure which one is better. Please kindly help me in deciding.

Also, on some websites, I observed people mentioning about Shutter count. I read that Canon shutter count is very less, approx. half of Nikon models. Is that really true? How important is it to think about.

Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it.

Hi,
What country do you live in? For the same price as the D90 in england you can get the t2i (550d). This is the newer model and has is a nice upgrade from the t1i (500d). Have a look at the price of the t2i and see if it is around the same as the d90. If it's between the d90 and t1i get whichever brand you prefer. Try the cameras and get a feel for them. Also look at the available lenses and their PRICES!

Hope this helps. :D
