Hello.... Sorry for the bother. Jus wondering whether you could give some advice. Ive been to cameralabs.com, read every review over and over, every specification list, I have studied. However I'm still stumped. Should I get the FZ8, FZ30?

I love all the features of both. But which is the better in value?

The FZ30 is getting on a bit now, so it may be best to compare the FZ8 against the FZ50. We did that in our FZ8 verdict here:

It boils a lot down to look and feel and features. The FZ50 has 10 Mpixels, a flash hotshoe, a manual ring for the zoom and a samller, but flippable screen.

These are all worthy features, but in practice the resolution doesn’t make a massive difference and if you can live without the hotshoe, flip-out screen and manual zoom ring, then the FZ8 represents better value. If however these particular features are important to you then the FZ50 is hard to beat.

Obviously there's also now the FZ18 which has an 18x lens which goes wider and longer than the FZ8 - we'll be reviewing it over the next few weeks...

Hi Jdee. I have just bought the Panasonic FZ 18 for my wife - it''s just come out. It is a step up from the other two & is definitely worth looking at. Haven't had time to play around with it yet but it's specs and reviews seem to be very inpressive
