Can I ask which manufacturers/models are reliable & recommended for a desktop hardrive? (Priced around £100-£130 ish)

I presently have an oldish iomega, but want a 1TB-2TB, mains powered, easy USB plug & play/use, type
Doesn't have to be stylish, tiny or all-singing & dancing, flasing lights etc, just robust & reliable.

Thanks in advance.

I have heard good things about Western Digital. As you want it mains powered I'd look into these two.

Wester, Digital elements
Western Digital My Book 3TB

I don't own either of them so maybe someone with personal experience can give you a different opinion.

Thanks cujo. That 3TB one looks good value! 8)

I've heard of WesternDigital before & also LaCie, but don't know what to go for tbh.

Anyone else have any suggestions please?

Have to agree with Cujo and the Western Digital. Before I was able to afford my mac, I built my own PC's. Always used WD hard drives and the external hard drive I have for the mac is WD. Very reliable and never had any issues at all. Would recommend without hesitation.

I run a 2TB LaCie Quadra D2 for a daily/weekly backup and it's quite nice. USB3/Firewire/ESata for lots of connectivity options, and its nice and quiet. Only downside is the blue LED is really obnoxious so I taped a business card over the light and we're good to go :) You can also stack them and they look pretty nice.
