Yup - i found out the hard way. My lens just arrived yesterday - so i thought i'd try out the my D7000 for the first time tonight. (I'd already ordered 2x Bytestor 16gb SDHC cards). Put them both into the camera and they worked fine for about 30mins.... then an error came up, and it would only read one of the cards, then it the camera wouldn't read either of the cards. Grrrrrrrrr... so annoyed at myself for going for the cheap option!!! Now i need to get some memory cards quick by the end of Tuesday a i fly to Marrakesh on Wednesday and want to take photo's then!!!

Oh.. both Class 10 cards BTW!!

Ok so i picked up a couple of Sandisk Extreme Class 6 8gb SDHC cards over the weekend and they seem to be working fine!!

So please just note - any D7000 users - beware of Bytestor SDHC cards, or any cheap ones for that matter!!!

regards

It's a good lesson learnt. We all spend so much on our cameras and lenses, and then the temptation is to save a bit of money on the memory card. But as you discovered it can be a false economy. I always stick with SanDisk and Lexar and haven't had any problems.

Have a great time in Marrakesh and be sure to show us some of your photos in the travel section!

If Sandisk/Lexar are too expensive, try Kingston & Transcend...they're both memory brands, with a great quality/price ratio. (also Kingston guarantees their memory cards for life)
