I have a PNY 4GB camera card. I bought it just for my trip to Europe. That is all the card was used for. Now that I am back, no machine nor my laptop detects any pictures on the card. But when I put the card back in the camera the pictures pull up. I went to Wolf Camera and they tried to do a recovery system, but even that didn't work. Does anyone have advice? I am desperate for these once in a lifetime pictures. Thank you!

The obvious way is to connect your camera via an USB cable to your computer and transfer them that way.

Do what Cam-I-Am has suggested first, and then go on trying to figure out what's going wrong, this way you reduce the risk of losing your images!

Perhaps the files are hidden or something? Can the card be detected by your computer? Try messing around in the folder options(I think that's what it is called on a PC, I use a Mac) and see if you can get it to show up from there. I've seen a few devices hide their folders by default. Odd, I'm not sure why.

Have you ever successfully copied photos from the card to a computer?

On the computer/s you've tried to copy to, have you successfully copied files from another card?


Oooh, that sounds dangerous. Are the photos still visible on the camera?

I agree with the other guys; hook your camera up directly to your computer, and see if you can copy them that way. If you use XP or Vista, the camera should appear in My Computer, and clicking into it should show your photo files. Then it should just be a matter of copying and pasting.

If that fails, and you've tried multiple computers and card readers that are proven to work with other cards, I'd suggest you take it to a computer expert.

That's what I thought when I read that. It told me the level of their 'expertise' because they should have given the advice I gave.

As the saying goes: "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing". For everyone who actually knows what he is doing there are at least a hundred who think they know what they are doing. Unfortunately it is very difficult for a non-expert to recognise the expert between the expertologists.

I'm not sure whether the fact we haven't heard back from BC yet is a good or a bad sign. But it would be nice if he let us know the outcome.
