I recently got a Nikon D60 with 18-55 and 55-200 and looking out for a bag. Which would be better choice, shoulder bag or backpack??

I like backpacks. You might like shoulder bags. It's a little hard to say.

This is my first slr and trying to decide on a good bag for around $50. Will a shoulder bag fit in a backpack with a laptop?? My backpack is medium size one.

Your D60 + lenses aren't too big or heavy so a shoulder bag would be more convenient for quick removal I think.

I don't understand your last question though, are you planning to fit your camera bag into a bigger backpack?

yep... shoulder bag in a backpack... :D But now I am thinking of getting both :D

Think I might settle for kata 467. This was the only one that would fit my budget (<100) and looks comfortable,would fit the camera and my laptop.
Any pros or cons about this bag??

Plus a small shoulder bag :D for short trips.

Now the hunt for cheap shoulder bag begins...

If you plan to put your camera bag in a larger bag then Crumpler may have th solution for you. They make an insert with all the dividers and padding a typical camera bag would need. It is appropriately called "The Bucket", you'll understand why when you see it. :) Have a look at Crumpler's webpage.

You lose all straps and side pockets though, so this is strictly an insert unless you want to carry it by its top handle which IMO, looks a little unwieldy.

I don;t know a great deal about camera bags, but I think your budget of only 50 dollars isn't really going to cut it. Camera bags arent cheap. :?

The only thing I could find, although it isnt a shoulder bag, was the Micro Trekker 100;
