Camera Labs

Hi all,

I'm planning on buying my first dSLR before year end and I'm pretty set on the Sony A200.

This camera comes with no case etc, So want some form of storage option. I'm not planning on buying an additional gadgets or widgets for it just yet.

It's primarily going to be used as a safe place for storage and transport and when I do take it out will be put in a normal rucksack along with other stuff such as jumper, mp3 player, food etc normal travel stuff.

I've seen two bags which I like, LowePro Rezo TLZ15 & Tarmarc Digital Zoom 3. Retail for around £20.

would these 2 bags provide ample protection while my camera is my backpack? (would there also be room for other stuff in my backpack after this, i.e. are these things really large? planning to use my NorthFace Vault..)

I've looked at camera backpacks but they a) don't fit my budget or b) don't fit my storage needs..

Hi wibble1 and welcome to the forum.

Camera bags range from very small one-DSLR-only bags to huge trolley bags. The models you mentioned are not too big but the external dimensions are usually available on the manufacturer website. You'll have to check those to see if they will fit in your existing bag.

You don't necessarily have to put a camera bag in another bag. Companies like Domke sell bag inserts that can convert any normal bag into a camera bag which might be the less bulky option.

I've read LowePro and Tamracs site and they say that the A200 will/should fit in there. Sony also make they're own type, but its an extra £10 which I don't think I can justify just for their name on the bag!

What you usually want is to not have the manufacturer name on the bag, especially if it's Canon or Nikon because a bulky bag with that name is more likely to get stolen. Having said that, I think Lowepro's are popular enough to have the same effect now.

Aside from that, it might better to stick with the tried and tested brands that actually specialise in camera bags.

I have the Lowepro TLZ Mini, and it fits my a200 + kit lens perfectly. In the little slot on front, i can have an extra CF-card, and two caps (Body + lens-caps) and my USB connector.
Although i will buy a new bag, once i get my new lens.

I looked at the Rezo 110 AW in Jessops and really liked it, but I read on Amazon that someone struggled to fit the A200K in it ... ?
