If you want to view the whole image at high resolution then essentially I think you have to transfer the shots to computer regardless.
One possibility if I'm not mistaken, the 450D supports tethered shooting with a live display on computer. EOS utility should be on the CD you got with the camera, connect it via USB cable and shots can be saved directly to computer I think. Worth looking into.
