Howdy!

First off I think your camera kit came with some software called Picture Project, and /or ViewNX that can convert the RAW NEF files to jpg. I may be wrong on this but check it out.

Second off is something free but I have never used it so I can't give a nod either way. Check out Raw Shooter Essentials

You can alsodownload a free trial of Nikon's Capture NX (scroll down half way) software and use it for 30 days. It costs about $130 if you want to own it.

You could also download the trial of Adobe Lightroom 30 days also, costs $300.00

Best regards

My friedn with ur D40 didnt you get a cd that say "pictureprojec" if so install that sotware, then open it and the drag all those NEF/RAW files into the software, wait a bit so the pictures will appear then you press Ctrl+J and then you choose the size of the jpeg that you want and whoala, you got yourself some jpegs that you can uppload to your flickr :D

Hi Kriss,

I agree completely with Alex168 but what I would like to say is: don't delete those NEF (RAW for Nikons) files yet. If you want to postprocess these files in the (near) future (Photoshop, Gimp etc.) they are better than the jpeg-files because they retain more information in the file than any other format does. And you can always convert these NEF-files in different sizes of Jpegs later on if you like.

Kind regards,
