Hello all,
I am having a bit of a problem that is going to make me look very stupid but to save myself more time trying to solve the problem, I decided to leave myself open to ridiclule and give the forum a good laugh and to ask the question.
Ok its probably one of the basice questions and commands on the programe but when I try to use any command other than the Pan or hand tool, the program will not let me select anything on the screen and the pan /hand icon stays engaged.
I have been playing around with photoshop for a while now and this has not happend to me before. It is also happening with me on another editing programme I sometimes use.

Hope that all made sense. Any ideas

Hi Big Pix ,

Thanks for replying and I apologise for being so rude as to not answer you but it is a very busy time for me and I only get snatches of time on my pc and less time with photoshop.

I am using windows to run the programme and it is not a copy although I did borrow the programme from someone else so maybe that would effect it.
Sometimes if I change the name of the layer it will start to work properly for me and after a while i have to change the name again as the tool I want to use refuse to show on screen even though it has appear in the task bar? as being in use.

It is highly annoying as sometimes it let me go so far and then just starts to not work for me..

I have changed over to coral paint shop pro x sometimes when adobe lets me down only to find the same thing is happening there.

Any help gratfully accepted

....... have a look at your preference settings for the programs....... also having your caps key on affects how some tools work

It sounds more like a general pc issue, rather than a program specific problem. Is your computer up to the job? Are all your other programs behaving as they should?

Thanks for your help everyone. It is still happening to me but i find if I rename a layer the program works properly for another while until I have to rename again.
Think I will concentrate on getting the shot right with the camera in the first place :D
