Hi all

I was looking to upload some shots to a site that requires a max width or height of 1024 pixels.
The original was a little over 4400 and was I resized in gimp the picture lost a huge amount of quality.
Anyone have any tips-tricks or advice for this?

I'm not familiar with the way GIMP works but most software has a selection of resize options. Look for something like "bicubic resample" and avoid "nearest neighbour". By scaling down, you will always lose the finest detail anyway, but often it can help to do some slight sharpening after resizing.

Sometimes it can also help to make the original a (more or less) even multiplier of the desired end result. e.g. some software will give better results when scaling a 4400x3300 image down to 1000x750 than scaling a 4400x3157 image down to 1000x750 (or 1000x717).
