PostPosted: Thu Jan 13, 2011 10:50 pm
Hi, Ihave recently purchased a Nikon D3100 and loaded the ViewNX2 software to my laptop. when I click on the file nothing happens, do I need to download photos to actually get the software working?

Also, what is the best method of uploading the photos, card reader maybe, the camera does not come with a lead. Thanks for any assistance.[/b]

I'm pretty sure your camera came with a CD containing "Nikon Transfer". The idea is you use that to transfer the files off of the camera, and use ViewNX to edit them.

I take pictures so quickly, my highschool was "Continuous High".

Personally, I'm not a fan of it whatsoever. But if you were looking for instructions, like Citrus said, use the CD.

I don't bother with Nikon's software at all. Just put your memory card into a card reader on your computer and transfer the images into a folder on your drive. If you don't have any image viewer like Elements or ACDSee then the default Microsoft viewer will allow you to view your pics.
If you don't have any specialist software then I suggest you download Picasa and start from there. It's a decent basic option with simple adjustment features and is easy to use.
I am not sure if it can handle RAW files though so you will need a RAW converter like Elements or an alternative. Nikon View NX has a RAW converter but it doesn't do much else.
