Post subject: Help with Gimp XCF file.
PostPosted: Thu Sep 10, 2009 3:45 pm
When I edit a photo using Gimp and save the file as JPG , it does not look the way it did before I saved it . I have the Gimp window open with the picture I have saved and when I compare the 2 , I can see the one I just saved is a bit darker , some detail is gone , and it just not seem right.

I saved the file to XCF but it only opens in GIMP.

I have not resized the photoso I am wondering why the results are turning out like this ? I have posted a pic below.

Also when I save , I get a message saying ,

** Your image should be exported before saving as jpeg for the following reasons.

Jpeg plug-in cant handle transparency

flatten image

The export conversion won't modify your original image. **

Check your colour management settings in the GIMP - I don't know which version of it you have, but 2.4.x and 2.6.x (where x is just a number, usually used to mark bug fix releases) do have some basic colour management capabilities.
