Today I saw a strange effect, when comparing the same shot from as a jpeg (normal) directly from my D80 and as the underlying RAWsaved as jpeg (standard-quality) from CaptureNX: The camera-processed JPEG had visible steps on a circular structure, whereas the JPEG produced by CaptureNX was much more smooth. Is there some antialiasing going on in the SW, that the camera-processor cannot do?
I also ment to see some more jpeg artifacts, although the file-size was similar
Have to make some test-shots...
Later...
