I'm trying to find a tripod of sorts with a few requirements and i was wondering if anyone had any ideas.

1. Must be small, . This is going to be for backpacking and i just want something to set up a camera so its not propped up on a ledge or anything.

2. Must be able to support about 1000g (about 2lbs) as i will be using a nikon d60 and hopefully an 18-200mm lens.

3. I would like the head to be adjustable so that i can set up the camera to shoot in portrait mode... would this be a ball head? ive seen you can buy heads separately but thats a bit beyond me. i'm not quite as well versed in the world of tripods quite yet.

Any help would be hugely appreciated as at the moment i know next to nothing on the subject.

P.S. Would this one be able to adjust to portrait mode at all?

One thing I discovered during my own search for a tripod is how few reviews there are out there. The best I have come up with is a group of four "user reviews" here but as this is on a price comparison site I guess one has to be a little wary. Don't forget to try our Price Partner engine when looking for the best prices. That shows our affiliate store Adorama stocking the unit for just $59.

For the convenience of other members who may wish to comment, would I be right in thinking that you have a budget of around US $100?

Well, as far as budget goes i'm not too sure right now because i don't really know whats out there. If the tripod is a pocket sized unit i would prefer to pay less, but if it is adjustable to be used as nearly full size than i wouldn't mind spending $150 CAD. So far the Manfrotto 785SHB looks like its the best option as i have seen it in a local shop for $89 CAD which works out to under 45 GBP, but i won't be making a final decision for a while so any suggestion are more than welcome.
