Im tempted to get a gorillapod for my sony A100 but im not sure if I need a Zoom model or if the SLR vershion will be sufficient.

The longest lens i would be using with it is the Sony 70-300mm which is about half the size of the lens gordon is using in his reveiw of the zoom model. Im no profeshional but i just want it for night shots, long zoom shots and portraits I want to be in.

Do you think the SLR vershion would be sufficient? Here it is.

I would get the zoom because it is only 10 dollars more and you have that added bonus of being stronger, if it was me I would buy the Slr zoom

I'd agree with Mazy and DEFINITELY get the SLR Zoom version for the extra strength and flexibility - it's only fractionally bigger and pricier.

Let us know how you get on with it...

Gordon, I don't suppose you could recommend a good head to go with it? I tempted to get one of these for travelling but it needs to be light preferably.

Hmmm, that's kind of a personal choice - depends what you want and how much weight / size you're willing to carry. Remember the Gorillapod doesn't need a separate head, but it certainly helps with composition...

It will work with Manfrotto heads, but I think a good ball and socket head is the best choice for travel...
