Picked up a dead insect off the mantelpiece (looked like a mosquito) and popped it under the microscope for a look. Amazing green iridescence on the body. Helicon Focus was used to stack about 20 images at x40 magnification, Canon 5D MkII and a research trinocular microscope.

I agree, it's really detailed and quite interesting, I've always found those eyes to be quite amazing things.
