No, I'm not going to leave this sub-forum, but I think I could use a bit more than the regulars around here. I think I'm already signed up on ukastroimaging but I can't stand the forum theme they have there. In a quick look there's also stargazerslounge I guess I could check out. Any other suggestions? I'd prefer a UK centric one.

Not UK centric but Cloudy Nights is very active.

Thanks Bob. Just spent far too long browsing the forums. It's taken the lead, as while I think I might prefer SGL, they've gone for a eye-ache inducing dark scheme and I'm too lazy to sign up just to find out if I can change it!

Argh! %$£"%!"£$%!"£$! 1st time I made a mistake in captcha. They're not really human readable any more! Repeated, got that right, but forgot to re-check the T&C box. It wipes out all the entered fields when you go back... right, got it 3rd time. Even after verifying e-mail ,I still need to wait for admin approval?

There is only one U.K. astro-imaging forum worth considering and that is PAIG. I'm not saying "in my opinion" 'cos who else's opinion is it?

Thanks for the link, have initiated registration there. Another one that required manual admin activation, and yet another dark theme...

Been hanging around SGL a little, the dark theme isn't as bad as ukastroimaging being more a dark grey than black. But the site doesn't seem that active. CN did eventually activate me but I haven't got round to going back since...

Whatever theme a particular site uses has no bearing whatsoever on the information content or usefulness of the site for the subject in question - so what is the obsession with themes?

I find white text on black background very stressful on my eyes, like the white text burns my eyes. It doesn't matter how good the info is if I can't read it in the first place. The alternative would be something like overriding a site using accessibility settings in the browser.

Try Stargazers Lounge and Astronomy Shed as well.

Some great guys there to inspire you and help out.

I've signed up on CN, SGL and PAIG as username GlassWalker, the glass of which isn't the optical variety but more the type my geckos like to walk on.

I haven't bothered visiting CN again since I signed up, as they took forever to activate my account. I was already active on the other two by the time they did.

Can't be bothered with PAIG but I finally signed up with Stargazer's Lounge today. Both there and on Cloudy Nights I can be found as "Bob Andersson" but you won't find much content there from me that I haven't already shared here.

Bob.

I think I'm pretty much done with Cloudy Nights as well. Some useful tips to be found there but images are limited to 200 kB and I've found a rather sniffier attitude to images I have shared compared to the Stargazer's Lounge forum. Constructive criticism is useful but when that's the bulk of what one gets it is hard to continue to stay motivated.

Bob.
