Had this idea the other day and only got around to playing with it now. One problem I had with mixing various sources is that the star sizes can be wildly different. They are particularly big if I'm doing RGB, and nice and small in H-alpha. So the idea was simple, can I use the H-alpha channel like a mask to reduce the size of everything?

Still needs some more experimentation before I report back with a sample...

Hi popo,

Check out the Luminance Layering Concept tutorial on the Astrodon Imaging site. Obviously it would emphasise the relative brightness of the cooler stars but, off the top of my head, you might even be able to correct for that using the RGB information. I've not tried any of this so I'll be very interested to see how you get on.

Bob.
