This was taken on the evening of Friday 13th January 2012, where the date lived up to its reputation - absolutely EVERYTHING went wrong this evening. But even with the intrusive Moon I managed to get 6 x 10-minute subs on the Monkey Head nebula. I have pushed the black point hard as it seems to post better with small (1024) images. North is down so that the Monkey Head is more clear to see. As this turned out so well under poor conditions I will return to this one when there's no Moon about (weather permitting) and take a bunch of 5-minute sub exposures just to get the sub count up.
This image has upset me even more regarding the mini-WASP concept. Clearly if you want to get the data down in the fastest possible time the way to do it is with a fast system, not by multiplying up slow systems to do the same job! This is only valid of course for one-shot colour imaging - if you're doing narrowband work then it becomes more effective to use multiple scopes and cameras to get all the narrowband data on an object in one go. Live and learn I suppose.
