Hi guys

I gazed out my bedroom window and noticed a gap in the sky where the moon was seen, I rushed out to my front door with my Tripod, remote shutter release, 20D and 70-200 f4. I spent about 15 minutes trying various shutter speeds and apertures.

Here is my attempt, more practice required me thinks

I would have to say thats pretty good. You seem to have the exposure right, although its difficult to tell if the moon is sharp. People dont realise that the moon is a very bright and fast moving object requiring a fast shutter speed, usually around 1/200th.

Another thing people dont realise is that the moon is very small when shot with anything less than around 500mm (even at 500mm it can still be considered small)

I think you are on the right tracks with this, keep at it and build up a portfolio of the different moon phases.
