Hi folks,

At the risk of completely demotivating any prospective lunar photographer check out the LRO web page here. Even better there's a "Zoomify" version here which gets you down to 145 metres per pixel resolution or you can download the supporting 549MB TIFF file here. That 549MB TIFF converts into a 420MB PSD file and here's what it looks like when scaled down to more forum friendly dimensions:
One advantage of the mosaic technique used means that one can choose a desired lighting angle for every crater but it's a huge amount of work to do well. Loading the converted 420MB PSD file into PhotoShops and using the space bar and the mouse to whiz around (with OpenGL graphics acceleration enabled) is huge fun. :)

For example I unexpectedly came across this:
Evidence that aliens have been taking pot shots at a lunar rille perhaps? Actually there is a less fanciful explanation if you go searching for one: the area is called Rima Hyginus.

Finally, if you want to peek around to the other side of the Moon there's an interactive map which allows you to see the Moon from any direction and zoom in as desired here. Happy hunting. 8)
