Clear skies so thought I'd take advantage of the close moon.

what ya think?

took around 30 shots this was the best with just a tiny bit of unsharp masking.

Camera Nikon D3100
Exposure 0.006 sec (1/160)
Aperture f/16.0
Focal Length 300 mm
ISO Speed 200
Exposure Bias -2 EV

Very nice clear shot, did you have the mirror locked up?

Also, what lens were you using, the 70-300? Thanks.

Thanks, I did see your other post about locking the mirror but didn't have time last night to work it out. I've since seen you can do it on the D3100 but it's for cleaning purposes and not sure you can do it while taking a photo.

The lens was the 55-300, was on a tripod with VR switched off. I think this one was manually focused through magnified live view but there was little difference between that and an autofocused one.

I think that what he means by "I took 30 pictures" is that he made 30 attempts to capture the moon and of the 30 this was the best.
