I am new to photo terms so can someone please direct me to simple practical explanations on specially

1. Exposure Compensation
2. Exposure Bracketing

and how to get the best shot (with flash and without) , suppose the subject is on a shaded boat while the outside is well lit sunshine with water reflections coming in...

Hi Chan,

For Exposure Compensation have a look at the last paragraph on this CambridgeInColour page.

Exposure Bracketing is simply taking a sequence of shots of the same subject with different exposures. For a great use of this technique, together with some sample shots, have a look at the thread HDR Tutorial - Beginners Guide here on CameraLabs. If HDR interests you then the thread HDR Experiment, also in the forum, will provide even more fun. 8)
