Not sure if this is the right spot for this one...?
Kinda embarassed about the dirt devil's posting it on here too...
Time for a cleaning I'd say. :(

Noticed this this morning and it lasted well into the afternoon.
After not seeing the sun for so long maybe it's an omen of a good summer coming.

IF IT ISN'T please don't tell me,leave me in my lil fantasy....please! :D

A wider lens was in order as there was a bright spot you can just see at the bottom as well small rainbows at 4 & 7 oclock also a well formed ring that extended out directly above me.
I believe it was a continuation of the one at the center of the sun.

Ha, you guys will have me into Photoshop yet...lol
I sent this in to the local weather lady, she has a "pic of the day"
It was broadcast with an explaination...

Solar Halos

Once in a lifetime kinda thingy.
Caused by ice crystals
If you google images of it you will notice that not many that come up have as many things going on at once in them.
Until I read up on this I didn't realize that I had in fact caught what is termed a "Redeye"
I thought it was just a maxed out pixel from pointing at the sun or lens flare or maybe a salt crystal on my lens..
I had done a series of shots hoping to do a panorama to get all the happenings into one shot and I have it in about 6 shots,no others.
They show one in the Googled images from India but it is much larger than the one I got.

I ran into something similar to this a few months ago and snapped a pic of it. Mine looks more like a rainbow around the sun then what you saw but still similar idea.

(i had some dust issues of my own at the time, although the larger black spots are actually crows)

Same thing clive...well done.

Maybe shooting at the sun just really shows off the  dust spots that just don't seem to want to go away...lol

Yep, they're called sun dogs or sun halos.
