The weather was against us, it was raining heavily in the northern Norwegian town of Tromsø. We drove for 2 hours and waited on the Norwegian/Finish border for 3 more and this was at the start of the show on October 19th 2011

I actually missed the shooting star when it happened, but my friend told me and I was eager to check the exposure when I got home.

This was the start of the night, i will post the photos form later in the night soon.

great tutorial here! im in the learning process of shooting star trails and the milkyway. im not that good with the constellations either, how do you find the north star? cause i've read that the north star is used in both shooting star trails and the milkyway. and lastly, how do you find the milkyway? thanks in advance guys

Just an aside.

For those of you with smart phones, ipads and alike then download the easy to use and FREE app called "Night Sky". This little app enables you to map the night sky dependent upon your location.. Easy to see which planet is which and where the key star formations actually are.
